Song Review: RuPaul's Drag Race Winner Yvie Oddly Heads to the "Dolla Store" on Debut Solo Release

All hail, the queen of RuPaul's Drag Race season 11... Yvie Oddly!

After defeating both A'keria C. Davenport and runner-up Brooke Lynn Hytes in heated lip-sync battles during the epic Drag Race finale, Oddly sashayed away with a brand new crown, scepter, and the title of America's Next Drag Superstar. Much deserved!

Fresh and crisp off her win, the Denver native uses the newfound spotlight to kickstart a promising music career. "Dolla Store" serves as Oddly's official solo debut effort, following a "Weirdo" collaboration with Cazwell and her standout (and the best) verse on "Queens Everywhere". The hip-hop parody finds the artist singing of where she usually finds her drag inspiration... scattered in the bargain bins.

"Dolla Store" combines the artist's unique aesthetic and impressive rap skills for a look into her days before becoming a reality television star. From potato chips and soda, to kitty litter and tucking tape, the local dollar store supplies everything a queen needs for a successful reign. And with a newly written check for $100,000, Oddly feels like a "baller" walking down the cluttered aisles now.

With relaxed production, courtesy of Niko The Kid, Oddly effortlessly flows about a love for cheap snacks, dental hygiene, and shopping deals. "Walk in a haze, grin on my face, hunting for munchies, I've been lit up for days," she proudly admits over heavy bass. While other rappers have bragged about extravagant and ridiculous lifestyles, the self-proclaimed oddball finds joy in a simple bag of Lay's BBQ chips.

After shaking out her piggy bank, throwing glitter in the face of the cashier, and walking out with coloring books and balloons, it's safe to assume "Dolla Store" has only knocked down previous reservations to make way for a blossoming music career. Full album on the way? We learned Oddly could write stellar rap verses on Drag Race. Her debut track just proves she's no one-hit wonder.

Along with "Dolla Store" being released to all streaming platforms, the newly crowned drag queen also shares the accompanying music video. A family affair at the Dollar Mas in downtown Los Angeles, the visual highlights how ratchet a grocery trip can get when you now have extra funds.
